MoI reiterates drone ban
KUWAIT: The interior ministry on Tuesday reiterated that aerial photography and the operation of unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) remain prohibited throughout the country until further notice. The ministry stressed the need for full compliance with the decision, affirming that “any violation or breach of the instructions will be met with the necessary legal measures against violators in accordance with the laws and regulations in force in the country”.
The interior ministry also urged citizens, residents and especially travelers not to carry luggage, parcels, packages or other belongings for others into or out of Kuwait, warning they could unknowingly become victims of drug traffickers and face legal liability. The ministry said traffickers use various methods to conceal narcotics and psychotropic substances and exploit unsuspecting travelers to transport them through border crossings.
It urged the public to reject requests to carry items for others, regardless of the justification or their relationship with the person handing them over. Authorities recently arrested three travelers in separate cases after finding narcotics and psychotropic substances hidden inside medicine packages. Preliminary investigations showed they had received the packages from people outside Kuwait to deliver to others inside the country, believing they contained medicine. — KUNA
