Kuwait MoI announces new 15-year residency permits for foreign investors - Security
KUWAIT, June 15 (KUNA) -- The Ministry of Interior announced that the Cabinet, in its Resolution No. (651) of 2026, has approved a new regulatory framework allowing qualified foreign investors and their immediate family members to obtain residency permits for up to 15 years.
This came in line with the directives of the leadership to transform Kuwait into a financial and commercial hub attractive to investment in coordination with the Ministry, represented by the General Directorate of Residency Affairs, and the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority (KDIPA).
In a press statement Monday, the Ministry stated that the eligible categories are owners of licensed investment entities, authorized partners, qualified immediate family members, and senior executives.
The Ministry noted that the eligibility requirements stipulate that entities licensed by KDIPA must maintain an investment value of no less than five million Kuwaiti dinars, conduct their actual business activities within Kuwait, and meet the minimum requirements for employing Kuwaiti citizens.
The Ministry added that the eligibility requirements also stipulate that the capital must not be less than one million Kuwaiti dinars for approved investment activities.
This initiative confirms Kuwait's ongoing efforts to strengthen the legal and regulatory foundations that support direct investment, in line with the objectives of Law No. (116) of (2013) regarding the promotion of direct investment in the country, while enhancing its attractiveness to global investors seeking long-term growth opportunities.
